The College cricket club is one of the oldest sports at school with a number of Old Boys going on to play for New Zealand. Notable Old Boys include Tom Lowry (1st New Zealand test captain), John Wright and most recently Peter Fulton.
Coaching staff are a mixture of College staff, club pros and external professional coaches.
All practice takes place at the Christ’s College cricket ground in South Hagley Park with the exception of a few teams who train in the artificial nets at school on Upper.
Year 9 teams play either full day or afternoon cricket, depending on their grade. Other teams play T20 matches starting at 9am, in the afternoon starting at 1pm, or the top senior sides begin at 10.30am.
House cricket is played in Term 1 for seniors and Term 4 for juniors.
College cricket teams play in a number of traditional interschool fixtures in New Zealand and Australia and have regular tours to the United Kingdom. The most recent tour to the UK occurred in April 2018.
