Terms 2 and 3 (Winter)
All hockey players train either at Rangi Ruru turf, Ngā Puna Wai, or Sporting Edge Indoor Centre. Transport will be provided if required.
College hockey teams participate in the local club competitions. Matches are played on Friday after school.

Matthew Crake is in his seventh year of coaching the 1st XI and brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has coached Canterbury age-group representative teams, various Rangi Ruru Girls’ School teams, and the Harewood Division 1 men’s team for several years. He has also played and coached in France for Stade Français. He currently plays for the Harewood premier team.

Old Boy Nick Lidstone played 108 games and five seasons for the Christ’s College 1st XI. An outstanding sportsman, Nick was a member of the New Zealand U18 hockey team and the New Zealand U19 cricket team. He was also selected for the Black Sticks senior men’s squad in 2023.

Old Boy Lewey Heale played more than 100 games and four seasons for the Christ's College 1st XI. He was also captain of the Rankin Cup-winning team in 2017. Lewey has represented Canterbury throughout all age groups and currently plays for the Hornby premier team while also studying at the University of Canterbury.

Keryn Ambler’s coaching experience has been well-established in cricket, and he is currently the College 1st XI cricket coach. Keryn played hockey throughout his school years, as well as playing premier hockey for Avon. He has a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management, a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning (PE and Health), and a New Zealand Cricket Level 2 coaching certificate.

Kyle is another College Old Boy who had three seasons in the 1st XI playing 81 matches. In his final year he was Co Captain. Kyle has played representative hockey for Canterbury through the age groups and is currently playing for the Avon Premier team. Kyle is studying for a Bachelor of sports coaching at UC.

Old Boy Tom Clarke had four seasons in the 1st XI, playing 59 matches. He was a member of the Canterbury champion sides in 2020 and 2021. Tom has also played representative hockey for Canterbury through the age groups, and is studying music and sport coaching at the University of Canterbury.
