Rugby

Terms 2 and 3 (Winter)

College rugby teams compete in local CRFU club and school competitions, while the 1st XV plays in the Crusaders Region UC Cup 1st XV competition.

College rugby teams also compete in a number of inter-school fixtures. Highlights include the annual fixtures against Christchurch Boys’ High School, which is played in Term 2, and Otago Boys’ High School. There is also a Quadrangular Tournament with Nelson College, Wellington College and Wanganui Collegiate. The U15 team plays in an eight team South Island-wide competition during Winter Tournament week and the U16 team plays in a Quadrangular tournament also in Winter Tournament week.

  • 1st XV – semifinalists in UC Championship vs Nelson College, 2nd XV – Metro rugby – U18 Section 1 finalists
  • U15A – winners of Metro U15 section cup and South Island Invitational tournament

  • 1st XV – winners of annual Quadrangular tournament, finalists in UC Championship vs CBHS
  • CRFU – Metro rugby – 13A and 15B section winners
  • Sam Darry and Patrick Thacker – NZ Schools, Arthur Allen and Zac Gallagher – NZ Schools Barbarians
2017
  • 1st XV – winners of annual Quadrangular tournament, win over CBHS in annual match, semifinalists in UC Championship
  • CRFU – Metro rugby – 14A and 14B section finalists – 14A winners
  • Isaiah Punivai and Patrick Thacker members of NZ Schools and Barbarian teams
