Terms 2 and 3 (Winter)

Students practice at the Waihora Gun Club, Motukarara. Boys are transported to the venue by parents and staff.

College shooters participate in several inter-school and club competitions, both local and national. The key competitions are the Canterbury inter-school shoots, North and South Island school shoots and National school shoot

Shooting is initially an optional activity outside the normal sports programme. Boys can then be asked to join the winter shooting group which is a part of the College sporting programme.

2025

  • Sixteen College shooters competed at the North Island and New Zealand Championships, one of the largest school shooting events in the country.
  • Four shooters were selected for the Canterbury Regional Team, highlighting the strength of the programme.
  • Christ’s College shooters won the South Island Skeet title and placed on the podium at the New Zealand Skeet Championships.

2024

  • 1st place in the North Island Team Skeet And DTL Championships.
  • 1st place in Teams Skeet for rounds four and six of the Canterbury Secondary School Circuit.
  • 1st place in Teams DTL rounds five and six of the Canterbury Secondary School Circuit.
  • 1st place Teams DTL at the Intercollegiate Secondary School Championship Shoot in Timaru,

  • NZSS Championships High Overall (HOA) Champion - DTL and Skeet
