Terms 2 and 3 (Winter)
Inter-school basketball takes place on Tuesday (Thomson Trophy – Senior A), Friday evenings (CSS competition – Senior and Years 9–11 teams) or Saturday (CBA competition – U20, U17 and U15 sides). Year 9 teams play after school on Friday or in U15 sides on Saturday. Games are usually played in school gymnasiums.
All teams are managed by College staff and or parents and coached in practices by external professionals. Several of the external coaches are linked with the Canterbury Rams.

- The Junior A team finished 3rd in the SISS
- The Senior B team 3rd place in A tournament
- The Senior A team achieved an undefeated in the Thompson Trophy, marking their fifth consecutive final appearance and four wins in five years.
- The U20 Black team made history by winning the U20 Men's Division 1 competition.
2023
- Winner of Grocott Trophy - CBA Junior competition

Travis Dixon grew up playing basketball in North Canterbury and represented Canterbury and New Zealand in age-grade teams. He also played in the United States as an exchange student in his final year of secondary school. On his return to New Zealand, Travis played for Checkers in the premier men’s competition, the Canterbury Knights, and the Canterbury Rams. Travis attributes his success in basketball to the excellent coaching of fundamentals during his developmental years. He aims to ensure that College players receive the same high level of coaching.

Quinn Clinton has represented New Zealand in a range of basketball teams. In 2016, he was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2016 FIBA U18 Oceania Championship and led the Junior Tall Blacks to the gold medal. In 2017, he played in the FIBA U19 World Championships in Cairo, Egypt, averaging 12.1 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 3.0 APG during the tournament. He was named the Male Junior Player of the Year in New Zealand and honoured with the annual Ambassadors Trophy. In 2019, he received the MVP award at the Aon U19 National Championship. After secondary school, Quinn played for Saint Mary’s College of California from 2018–2022.

Tom has played for various representative teams and New Zealand junior age groups including the Junior Tall Blacks. He played three years of NCAA Division 2 basketball in Texas as well as one season for the Canterbury Rams and is currently playing for UC Prems. He is a camp coach for Mainland Eagles and the Canterbury Rams, and has been a coach at College since 2022.
