College offers a range of scholarships to support those families and boys who might otherwise not be able to afford a College education. In addition, our scholarship programme helps to ensure we have a diverse community that best reflects modern New Zealand and enriches the educational experience of all our boys.
All scholarships have been made possible by the generous gifts of Old Boys and other College supporters. Our most prestigious academic scholarships – the Somes Exhibition Scholarships – are named after our inspirational early benefactor, Maria Somes.
We have a number of scholarships available for new Year 9 entrants. Applications are open between February and May for Year 8 students who are entering at Year 9 of the following year.

The Executive Principal’s scholarships are awarded to recipients who have significant personal attributes and demonstrate general excellence. These scholarships enable College to best reflect modern New Zealand, especially with regard to socioeconomic and ethnic diversity. Recipients must be willing to make a proactive contribution to the school, embrace the opportunities on offer, and add to the College experience through their talent, character and engagement.
These scholarships are for families who are not in a position to afford a College education for their son without significant financial assistance. All applicants must complete a financial declaration form.
General Excellence scholarships are for outstanding, well-rounded boys who excel in all areas. They should already have demonstrated leadership ability and we would expect them to continue to be young leaders in our community. They must be willing to participate in all aspects of College life.

We offer two boarding scholarships:

Christ’s College is well known across New Zealand for its competitiveness in a broad range of sports, from traditional team sports to more recreation-based activities. Applicants for our sport scholarships should excel in a winter and summer sport. As we have so many boys interested in this scholarship, please apply as soon as possible. This will allow our Director of Sport and other relevant personnel to properly assess your son's application.
