Caregivers and fees
As with all domestic boarders, international students must have a local caregiver based in the Christchurch area.
A caregiver acts as the student's local support person while boarding, taking an active interest in their wellbeing and school life. They may provide occasional weekend or overnight accommodation, assist in emergencies, accommodate the student if the boarding house closes temporarily or if the student is too unwell to remain in the House, and provide airport transfers when required.
This is not a legal responsibility but a supportive arrangement between families. If parents do not have a suitable caregiver, College can assist in finding one.
Caregiver fees are typically NZD $1,000 per term and do not include accommodation during school holidays.
