Business Banter – something to talk about

10 May 2021

They started by selling jars of nut butter at weekend farmers’ markets, and today they’re exporting their award-winning product all over the world.

The exciting story of Fix and Fogg will launch College’s new initiative – Business Banter, developed by Advancement in response to clear directives from College sponsors for opportunities to network together, include the wider community, and most of all, hear stories which encompass sustainability.

Senior Development Manager Shelley Keach says Business Banter is a really exciting chance for everyone to hear inspiring stories from the business world.

“Normally, it will be a breakfast event, but this first session is so interesting that we decided to hold it at 5.30pm on Wednesday 26 May, to accommodate all who want to come.”

Fix and Fogg CEO Roman Jewell will tell the story of its ups and downs and how the team expanded to 35 and now exports worldwide from its factory in Wellington.

“Right now they have another four people in Texas trying to hustle the largest and most competitive nut butter market in the world, the United States,” says Shelley.

The second Business Banter session will be held as a breakfast in the College Dining Hall at 7.30am on 30 June, and will feature College Old Boy Alistair Grigg. He will speak about his time as Chief Operating Officer at Xero, the accounting service which has transformed business financial operations into a fun, creative and easy to use service.
