ASSISTANT TO THE DIRECTOR OF SPORT – HEAD STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Christ’s College is seeking to appoint a dynamic sport professional to lead its strength and conditioning regime. The Assistant to the Director of Sport – Head Strength & Conditioning Coach will provide leadership and management for all aspects of College’s strength and conditioning programmes, including pre-season preparation, in-season and off-season maintenance, and rehabilitation and recovery, as well as support the strength and conditioning elements of the health and physical education curriculum. As part of the sport management team, they will be expected to participate in all aspects of sport strategic planning at Christ’s College and to initiate new and interesting projects for the benefit of the boys.

The ideal candidate should enjoy working with young sportsmen, from beginners to elite level, and show an understanding of College’s philosophy and sporting values. They should have clear leadership ability and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with outstanding administrative and time management skills.

  • A tertiary qualification in Sports Science or a related discipline required
  • ASCA S&C Coach Accreditation preferred
  • Combination of relevant experience, education and training is essential

This is a full-time, permanent position, to commence at the beginning of Term 2 2018, Monday 30 April. The successful applicant must have the capacity to work flexible hours, which reflects the changing intensities of engagement season to season in the sporting context.

CHRIST'S COLLEGE COUNSELLOR

Christ’s College is seeking to appoint a College Counsellor. The Counsellor is a key member of College’s pastoral care team and will take a lead role in the school’s pastoral care network, working closely with the Director of Wellbeing & Positive Education and accountable to the Deputy Principal. This significant role balances the ongoing development of wellbeing and positive education initiatives at College with providing a high quality counselling service for students and their families, and training sessions for teachers and House staff as required.

The ideal candidate should have school-based counselling experience, be passionate about the health and wellbeing of young people and have an understanding of the particular needs of boys living in a residential community. They must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to relate to many different people from a range of cultural backgrounds, a positive and friendly “can do” attitude, and a professional approach at all times.

The applicant must have specialist qualifications in counselling and be a current member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors.
