Director of Drama

We are seeking a qualified Director of Drama to commence 1 February 2021. This position is full-time, ongoing. As a member of teaching staff, the Director of Drama (DoD) is accountable to the Deputy Principal in providing direction and leadership of College’s drama programme. This is an important role in a school which considers the performing arts critical to the successful delivery of its mission.

While working within the teaching team, the DoD works closely with other parts of the school’s organisation and also with other schools, particularly St Margaret’s College and Rangi Ruru Girls’ School. They are expected to fully participate in all aspects of strategic planning of the college and to initiate and lead a variety of projects within their areas of expertise.

As a lead member of the teaching and performing arts team, it is expected that the DoD is open to and active in pursuing new and interesting projects to the benefit of the boys, and the college.

Applicants should state their additional teaching subjects and be willing to be involved in the co-curricular programme of the college.

School Psychologist/Counsellor

Affiliated with the Anglican Church of New Zealand, Christ's College is one of the leading independent boys' schools in New Zealand, with strong academic, sports, service and cultural programmes and a wide range of co-curricular activities. Christ's College is a school where boys thrive. We are dedicated to achieving our mission: Each boy at his best. 

We are looking for two compassionate and caring school counsellors to join our pastoral care team in an ongoing capacity. The College counsellors will take a lead role in the school's pastoral care network, working closely with our wellbeing team. They will be accountable to the Deputy Principal, who oversees all aspects of pastoral care. These significant role balance the ongoing development of wellbeing and positive education initiatives at Christ's College, providing a high-quality counselling service for students and their families, and training sessions for teachers and House staff as required.

Ideal candidates should have school-based counselling experience, be passionate about the health and wellbeing of young people and have an understanding of the particular needs of boys living in a residential community. They must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to relate to many different people from a range of cultural backgrounds, a positive and friendly "can-do" attitude, and a professional approach at all times.

Applicants must have specialist qualifications in counselling and be current members of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors.

Both of these are full-time positions to commence on 29 January 2021. One of these roles may be part-time (0.8FTE) by negotiation with the right candidate.
