The IDEALS of Junior Round Square Week
From a multilingual Chapel service to an international food tuck shop takeover and an informative and engaging Assembly, Junior Round Square Week has delivered a multinational experience for College students.
In Chapel, Clemens Ritter has given the reading in German (translated by Nisal Pathirana) while Felipe Felitti-Duter has read the prayers in Spanish and Tate Aikawa has focused on the Round Square IDEAL of Leadership in the sermon. The service has also featured a hymn in te reo and Casper Talbot accompanying the College waiata on guitar.
A House flag poster competition has attracted an array of submissions while a Round Square-focused Kahoot! quiz has drawn a good crowd, with Baxter Bretherton taking the honours, followed by Louis Hiatt and Sasha Young.
Meanwhile, Fountain of Peace charity student ambassador Angus Sharpe has been busy selling chocolate bars to raise money for a new well in a village in Africa.
A sweets giveaway for those boys who can name the Round Square IDEALS –Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, and Service – and a library display featuring cultural items have further highlighted the week.
Wrapping up the week, the Junior Round Square Assembly has opened with a prayer in Korean from Chris Yoon. Students have then heard from Thomas Visakan, Jack Gorrie, and Alfie McLean, who have shared their experiences of the te reo language labs. Meanwhile, Luke Murney and Will Matheson have spoken about their visit to The Rockhampton Grammar School in Queensland for an environmental conference. Dylan Jackson and Mun Chi Jager have also shared details of their inaugural student exchange to Dunn School in California while Ollie Trollip has highlighted the Round Square IDEALS and entertained the boys with a song in Italian.
