Six of the best – Crusaders in the making

Six of College’s first XV rugby team made the Crusaders Junior Knights, the Crusaders schools regional team, with Johnny Lee, the College captain and number 8, named captain.
This is at least the fourth time in a row that a College boy has been singled out for leadership honours. Sam Darry was captain in 2018 and Zach Gallagher in 2019, while Fletcher Anderson captained the NZ schools team in 2020.
The College boys selected this time for the Crusaders Junior Knights were Nic Shearer, Angus Hammett, Hendrix Taylor, and Jack Jones, all Year 13 students, and Liam Jack who is Year 12.
The team played Otago on 15 October in Timaru, winning 29-15 after being down 0-10 at one stage.
Johnny Lee says “being selected was an unreal opportunity and experience” for all the College boys, who loved the chance to be trained by Jason Ryan ahead of the Timaru game.
