Model students on European stage at UC

Year 12 student Sam Cross has been chosen as the Best Delegate Award runner-up at at the recent Christchurch Model EU.
Hosted by the University of Canterbury’s National Centre for Research on Europe, Sam – along with Aaron Kwak, Nick Sharr, Sean Jang, William Sudell, Hugo Sudell, James Hadden, Hugo Buchan, Jack Hastie, Alex Johnston, William Morris, David Wayne, Oscar Compton-Moen, Max Hao and Edward Elworthy – all spoke at the event.
“It has been a brilliant opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the European parliamentary system, and meet students from other schools who are interested in leadership on the world stage,” Sam, 16, says.
“We all enjoyed the day and the chance to discuss contemporary issues around misinformation and combating propaganda. It was also insightful to listen to Nina Obermaier, the European Union Ambassador to New Zealand.”
