Mark Cochrane shares Saatchi & Saatchi's iconic journey at Business Banter
Mark Cochrane, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi, took to the stage at Business Banter to share the remarkable story behind the iconic advertising agency.
A College Old Boy, Mark captivated the audience with tales of Saatchi & Saatchi’s groundbreaking work, showcasing some of the agency’s most memorable ads, including the famed Toyota campaigns that boldly used the B-word, as well as the memorable collaboration with Billie Eilish.
Mark also announced the highly anticipated return of the Tui ads – another signature campaign for which Saatchi & Saatchi is renowned. These ads have become a staple in New Zealand’s advertising landscape, known for their sharp wit and clever social commentary.
A 1995 graduate of the College, Mark reflected fondly on his school days, recalling his time boarding at Jacobs House as transformative. He warmly remembers the lifelong friendships he built with fellow students, many of whom remain close friends today, including one who now lives just around the corner from him in Auckland.
Mark attributes much of his success to the lessons he learned during his time at College – especially the values of self-reliance, personal responsibility, and the importance of belonging to a strong community. These formative experiences have had a lasting impact on his approach to leadership and creativity, both in his personal and professional life.
