Conservation Award for Eco-Trust
A student-powered initiative to enhance the natural local environment has been recognised at the Conservation Awards.
College Head of Environment Janindu Pahalawatta has accepted the award from the Canterbury Aoraki Conservation Board – Te Rūnanga Papa Atawhai o Waitaha me Aoraki on behalf of the 16 schools, along with volunteers and sponsors, who support the College-based Eco-Action Nursery. The Environment Committee contributes to the propagation nursery, which supplies eco-sourced native plant seedlings to 15 satellite nursery schools. Those schools nurture the seedlings for planting in the Christchurch red zone to create green space.
