College trio on basketball title target
College basketballers have made a big impression on the title court, helping to power the Canterbury U15 side to a National Tournament final win in Auckland.
Tawhiri Cate, Hoani Ifopo-Togia, and Josh Shannahan have been in outstanding form throughout the tournament, steering Canterbury to a 89–82 win over Waitakere West in the hard-fought final, with Hoani Ifopo-Togia putting up a game-high 38 points and Tawhiri sealing the win. In the semi-final, Canterbury has proved too strong for Hutt Valley, winning 75–69, with Hoani claiming 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Hoani has been recognised as the tournament MVP while both Hoani and Tawhiri have been named in the Tournament Team.
Meanwhile, Max Airey and Tom Hazeldine have also impressed as members of the North Canterbury team at the national tournament.
