College dances away with top awards
College dancers have rocked the stage at DanceNZmade, picking up the runner-up award in the Years 11–13 section and scoring top marks for their choreography in Greased Lightning.
The regional awards – held at the Aurora Centre – celebrate the strength, diversity, and passion of dance among young performers in New Zealand.
Director of Drama Hannah Clarkson says the 35-strong group of College students “have brought wonderful energy to the stage – throwing everything into their performance and loving every minute”.
“Their choreography earned full marks, while, overall, they achieved a 95.5 average to finish 3rd out of all the schools competing from across Canterbury. There was also a lot of support from dancers from other schools as the boys delivered a musical highlight from Grease, creating a wonderful environment for everyone.”
