Christ’s College runs ahead with 13 track and field titles

Three outstanding Christ’s College athletes – AJ Madondo, Jake Boyd, and Otto Church – have won multiple titles at the Canterbury Secondary School Track & Field Championships at Ngā Puna Wai.

AJ has won the U19 triple jump (13.85m), the 100m (11.22sec), and the 200m (22.51sec) while Jake has claimed the U14 shot put (11.20m) and the discus (45.41m), and Otto has proved too strong in the U14 1500m (4.33.10) and the 3000m (10.18.95).

Six other College athletes have also won championship titles, including Sam O’Connell – U15 javelin (35.83m), PJ Palamo – U16 shot put (13.11m), Lui Tupuola – U16 hammer (31.75m), Armani Lemalu – U19 discus (47.21m), Josh Ratulomai – U19 hammer (41.13m), and Harrison Laing – U16 400m (52.65).

In total, College has won 13 individual titles, along with multiple podium finishes in a range of events, including the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Most boys have achieved personal bests in the fine conditions.
