Christ’s College four pitch perfect for NZSSSO
Four outstanding Christ’s College musicians feature in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Symphony Orchestra (NZSSSO) in 2023.
Three College students hold elite roles, with Joshua Hooker winning the prestigious position of concert master, and Sean Jang appointed principal oboe, and James Drury, principal French horn. The fourth College standout, Andrew Welsh, has long been recognised for his percussion skills. All four Year 13 musicians have been members of the NZSSSO since 2019, having been chosen in their first year at Christ’s College.
The exceptional standard of musicianship and the opportunity to perform full-scale orchestral works ensure that the NZSSSO is a vital step for promising young players wanting to take their talents to the next level.
