Revved up, raring to go

As a road user, he is on his restricted licence, but Year 13 student and self-confessed petrolhead Jack Noble-Adams has a handful of other vehicle licences that attest to his passion for grass karting and motorsport.
Since 2015, Jack has won four New Zealand National Grass Karting first place titles; three Canterbury Karting Club championship first place titles; two Mainland Series second place titles; taken third place in karting’s Rotax South Island Series; come sixth in the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship; qualified for the TQ Midget Speedway South Island finals; raced in the South Island Production-Class Motorcycle series; and, representing College, has placed third and fourth in the last two National Schools Karting events and took fourth place in Rotax in the National Schools Championships.
“I enjoy it,” says Jack. “It’s good fun. It’s a bit dangerous and I understand that, but I know and take measures to mitigate the risks.”
Most weekends Jack travels and competes at different events, but when not racing he likes nothing better than working on his own projects. “At the moment I’m building a dynamometer, which measures the power output of an engine.”
Whether in the driver’s seat or in the pit crew, Jack is aiming to turn his passion into his career. He plans to study mechanical engineering at the University of Canterbury and then head overseas to do a postgraduate programme in advanced motorsport engineering.
