Ready and eager

Starting secondary school is one of the first big transitions of adolescence and, looking smart and ready for action, our newly minted Year 9 students began their first day at College in Chapel on Monday 27 January.

While many were nervous, the boys soon relaxed in the warmth of the welcome they received from Rev. Bosco Peters and Executive Principal Garth Wynne, who outlined what the boys could expect and how they should aspire to be active participants in their education and embrace the many opportunities available to them.

Each boy was then invited to come forward and receive a gift of a toy carabiner, designed to symbolise how the school will support them, but it is up to them to take control of their College experience.

After the ceremony, Head Prefect Dominic Edmond and Deputy Head Prefect Louis Gunn led the boys out of Chapel and shepherded them to the OBT for the next event in a busy day of Year 9 orientation activities, while their parents enjoyed morning tea on the Quad.
