His happy place

Senior Management Accountant Connor Phipps found the transition to working from home a straightforward and rewarding experience.
“We could see it was likely we would go into lockdown and, thankfully, digital services were quick off the mark with organising tech support. I grabbed everything I needed from the office – an extra screen, files, paperwork – and went home.”
With his wife on maternity leave and his infant daughter more delightful every day, Connor was in his happy place.
“It’s been a really enjoyable experience for me, I think perhaps because I’m at a particular time in my life. It’s been really great to be able to help out a lot more around the house and has highlighted for me how quickly children grow and change day by day.”
He soon realised he needed to establish a daily routine of exercise, work and family time, and to set up his office in a quiet space. And he missed the camaraderie of working in an office and being part of a team, enjoying the “focused and friendly” regular team meetings.
“I’ve enjoyed working from home in so many ways, it’s been surprisingly easy in a lot of respects. Change was forced upon us and, with good support and communication, it all worked well.”
