An inspired award

Immerse & Inspire has become a key part of the Year 10 experience. It is busy and demanding and fun, and takes the idea of getting involved at College to a whole new level – and now the programme’s success has been recognised by an Innovation in Boarding Award from the Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA).
Director of Boarding and the Centre for Character & Leadership Darrell Thatcher was on hand to accept the award on behalf of College, which was presented at the ABSA Leaders Conference in Adelaide on Monday 12 August.
“It was such a nice surprise to win – and for a New Zealander to be taking an Australian award!”
Darrell has been involved in Immerse & Inspire since its inception, leading the small team that runs the programme, reviewing feedback and guiding its ongoing development.
“I’m thrilled Immerse & Inspire has been recognised as a unique and innovative idea, both in terms of its content and the opportunity to give day boys an immersive boarding experience.”
