On Tuesday 28 March, Christ's College international students attended an international student welcome event, organised by Christchurch Educated, at Christchurch Art Gallery.

Event organiser Izzie Guo said, “It is an event to celebrate our diversity and offer an opportunity for international students to experience a taste of Christchurch culture.”

Deputy Mayor Andrew Turner welcomed the students and said it was good to see more and more international students choosing to study in Christchurch, he really appreciated it.

Guests enjoyed several performances, including a Chinese lion dance, and Maori and Indian traditional dances. They could also have a go at rugby drills and watch a street artist at work.

Year 11 student Mark Ma said he liked the lion dance a lot as it reminded him of his childhood in China.

“It was a great opportunity to learn about different cultures and I really enjoyed my time there,” said Year 13 student Frank Shi.
