After 20 years of exceptional service to the boys and families of Richards House, Mr Chris Sellars has decided to resign from his position as Housemaster. Chris will continue in his role as Careers Adviser.  His contribution to the residential community of College has been truly exceptional. Mr Andrew Levenger is also stepping down as Housemaster of Flower’s House, (after five years in the role). Andrew will continue as a Mathematics teacher at College and his contribution to Flower’s House and as an executive member of the New Zealand Boarding Schools’ Association has been much valued. 

Consequently, Christ’s College is now looking to appoint two Boarding Housemasters to begin either in a transitional role in Term 4 2017 or at the beginning of 2018. These are positions which are undertaken in addition to specialist teaching or other College duties.

Christ’s College’s mission is Each boy at his best. The role of a Boarding Housemaster in this aspiration is pivotal to the school’s pastoral programme. A Boarding Housemaster is a key member of our residential community and the pastoral care team, overseeing the everyday life of the House and is responsible for all aspects of House culture, tone and experience for students, parents and staff.  

The ideal candidate should be a proven teacher of quality, have clear leadership ability, excellent communication skills, a “can do” attitude and a professional approach in all that they do. They will be able to relate to many different people, and have empathy and sensitivity to all. As is the case with all staff, they must be prepared to contribute to co-curricular activities of the school and support the weekend Boarding Programme. This is a live-in position. At College, the Boarding Housemaster is head of the House family creating a positive and supportive “home away from home” for the boys.

College offers excellent working conditions in a pleasant environment.

Remuneration includes rent-free accommodation, power subsidy, mobile phone and landline, a Boarding Housemaster allowance, along with above state education sector wages and KiwiSaver contributions. Staff can join a subsidised medical insurance scheme after a qualifying period and can also benefit from a generous education subsidy.

Christ's College is a day and boarding school for boys from Years 9 to 13. The school has a proven record of academic excellence, a strong commitment to pastoral care, and provides a wide range of sporting and cultural and co-curricular opportunities. Christ's College is seeking an experienced and qualified Spanish teacher to join our high calibre Modern Languages team. Initially, this is a 0.8FTE position for Term 4 that will become full time for Terms 1-3, 2018. Commencing 16 October 2017 through until Friday 21 September 2018, this is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a staff member on maternity leave. College offers excellent working conditions in a pleasant environment. The school has excellent facilities and is established on an attractive central city campus. Remuneration is above state levels, as is the KiwiSaver contribution.
