There was no stopping the senior tennis team, which dominated play at the South Island secondary schools’ championship, winning the South Island title for the third year in a row.
Playing five matches over three days, the boys had comfortable 6–0 wins over Timaru Boys’ High School, St Bede’s College, Christchurch Boys’ High School and Marlborough Boys’ College. The final, against St Andrew’s College, proved a tough contest with some close matches, but College prevailed, taking a 5–1 win.
College number one Will Schneideman played all top seeds and won all his matches. His focused effort, steely determination and strong leadership was a key part of the team’s success.
The South Island tournament was held in Timaru from Friday 1–Sunday 3 March.
