New faces on campus

We are delighted to welcome a number of new staff to College this year and look forward to being inspired by the fresh ideas and initiatives they bring.

Mr Callum Bell - Biology
Callum is a recent graduate who had a teaching placement at College in 2016.

Mrs Jennifer Free - Japanese
Jennifer will be covering Mr Steve Everingham’s Year 10 Japanese class for Term 1. She is well versed in high-level Japanese communication and translation, Japanese history and modern Japanese economics and society. Jennifer previously taught at Aranui High School.

Ms Tamara Lerios - Mathematics
Tamara was a relief teacher at College in 2016 and will already be known to many of the boys.

Miss Emily Priest - Biology
Emily is a recent graduate who first came to College on teaching placement in 2016.

Mr John Quinn - School Counsellor and Director of Wellbeing & Positive Education
John was formerly the school counsellor at St Andrew’s College, as well as being a director of the 100% Project, which supports and enables individuals, teams and organisations to flourish, build resilience and achieve peak potential. John works with several high performance sports teams and oversees national athletics through High Performance Sport, New Zealand. He is an approved Family Court counsellor.

Ms Katie Southworth - HoD Commerce
Katie comes to College from Cashmere High School, where she was Acting Head of Faculty – Social Science. She likes to get fully involved in school life, combining academic responsibilities with participation in various sporting and cultural events.

Mrs Samantha Squire - Assistant HoD Mathematics
Samantha previously worked at Avondale College, Auckland, teaching juniors through to NCEA Level 3 Calculus. She has also taught in the United Kingdom, where she was at the forefront of developing and implementing strategies to assist students who struggled to gain numeracy. Samantha is a firm believer in the merits of co-curricular activities as an integral part of a holistic education.

Miss Susannah (Susie) Stewart - Agriculture
Susie previously taught agriculture, biology, chemistry and junior science at St Andrew’s College. She is a keen sportswoman and is competing in the run and bike sections of the Coast to Coast this weekend, 10–11 February. Good luck, Susie!
