Athletics for everyone

26 Feb 2019

Perfect conditions produced best performances and brought out a crowd of enthusiastic supporters at Athletics Day. It was all about speed and distance, flying javelins and flying bodies, as College athletes ran, leapt and threw their way to glory. Healthy House rivalry prevailed, and a buzz of conversation, punctuated by cheers and applause, reflected the friendly community atmosphere, as boys and spectators alike became immersed in the events.

New records were set in the Junior 1500m and 3000m track events by Year 11 student Sam Idiens, on the field in the Junior hammer by Year 10 student Jack Smith, and by Corfe House in the U14 4x100m relay.

For MiC Athletics Graeme Christey and his team of willing helpers, Athletics Day is the culmination of several weeks of competition and one of the biggest days on the College calendar. Graeme was delighted to see more boys than ever choosing to get involved, as he believes there is an event for everyone in athletics and that physical activity is an essential aspect of wellbeing.

Athletics Day was held on Friday 22 February on Upper. For full results, click here.
