On Saturday 16 February some of our 2018 Annual Appeal donors joined Executive Principal Garth Wynne and Board Chair Dr Ian Town in the Dining Hall for afternoon tea. Garth thanked our donors for their generous gifts for the restoration of the Dining Hall gallery which completed the final earthquake repairs to the Dining Hall. The beautiful gallery is located high up at the southern end of the Dining Hall and is commonly known in architectural terms as a minstrels’ gallery. In its day, the gallery was used by House tutors and matrons to eat their meals, and as a space to host special events. Our donors have helped us restore this important part of College history. With an elegant mix of beautiful wood panelling, a dumbwaiter and the latest technology, the gallery is now operating as a function space for special events.Dr Town led guests up to the gallery where they enjoyed the view of the Dining Hall below and were able to follow the restoration progress via images on the new retractable television screen. These included the original plans and shots of the Dining Hall in use.

Christ’s College thanks and acknowledges our Annual Appeal donors for their generosity and commitment to the school.
