In 2025, the Warden, Chair, Deputy Chair and Fellows adopted an updated strategic plan for the period to 2030. The plan reflects Christ’s College’s commitment to being the leading independent secondary school for boys in New Zealand — academically, pastorally, and in the breadth and quality of its co-curricular programmes.
Our vision | whakatakanga
Christ’s College will be an Anglican school community that educates boys to become men of virtuous character, empowering them to make a positive difference in society.
Our mission | matahwānui
Each boy at his best.
Tama tū, tama ora; ki te tū, taioreore.
Our motto | whakapepeha
Good traditions, well maintained.
Bene tradita, bene servanda.
Strategic priorities
The Strategic Plan 2025–2030 is built around five priorities:
Academic performance — ensuring Christ’s College is the leading academic school for boys in New Zealand
Co-curricular excellence — delivering outstanding programmes that develop character, confidence, and leadership
Financial sustainability — prudent stewardship of Christ’s College’s resources for long-term success
Community engagement — strengthening connections with all stakeholders to optimise the Christ’s College experience
Recruitment and retention of exceptional staff — attracting, developing, and retaining high-quality staff across Christ’s College.
These priorities are underpinned by the school’s Anglican virtues — Ngākau Matatika: honesty | pono, spirituality | wairuatanga, compassion | ngā kau aroha, learning | ngā akoranga, respect | ngā kau whakamiha, stewardship | kaitiakitanga, and justice | manatika.
Delivery and accountability
The Strategic Plan is supported by annual operational priorities, agreed between the Warden, Chair, Deputy Chair, Fellows, and the Headmaster at the beginning of each year. Progress against those priorities is regularly reviewed by the Warden, Chair, Deputy Chair, and Fellows throughout the year. This cycle of planning, implementation, and review ensures that the Strategic Plan is not a static document but a living framework that shapes the direction of Christ’s College, year by year.
