Zach Tucker sets top-class pace in World Cup kart win
20 Nov 2025
Christ’s College student Zach Tucker has been crowned FIA Karting Arrive and Drive World Cup (senior) champion at the LYL International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Starting from fifth on the grid in the A final, the Year 10 kart racer expertly worked his way through the field to grab an early lead. With positions rapidly changing, Zach kept his nerve to hold off his rivals heading into the final laps before torrential rain hit the track.
As concerns grew over the slippery conditions, the red flag was raised – ending the inaugural FIA event with more than three-quarters of the race completed and Zach secure in the winner’s seat.
Zach lined up in the 14 to 19 years group, vying with 59 drivers from around the world for the international title. All raced the same type of kart but had to swap their engines with another driver after each heat. This approach emphasised pure driving ability and prevented technical and financial disparity.
From the first test session, it was clear that Zach and a Danish rival were the ones to beat, recording the fastest times. However, having to deal with different engines and changing weather conditions proved challenging, leading to mixed results. By the third heat, Zach was firmly on track to a big finish, winning by 6.1 seconds.
Zach again delivered the fastest time in practice on the final day. After battling it out with two other competitors, he proved too good in the championship race to lift the trophy. He is now on course to opportunities in Formula 4 racing.
