21 Mar 2026

At 16, international champion Tyler Christey is the first Christ’s College student to win a medal at a World DTL Clay Target Championships.

Lining up in the C Grade at the International Clay Target Shooting Federation 2026 World DTL Championships at McLeans Island in Christchurch, Tyler has taken the title, scoring 803/900 points, with Bradley Roycroft 4th (790/900 points), Angus Maxwell 6th, and Cohen Wildermoth 16th. Both Tyler and Bradley competed in three 100-target rounds over three days, shooting consistently in the 90% to 95% target range in each round – an outstanding achievement for the grade.

In B Grade, Harry Wilson (15th), Harrison Johnstone (18th), Jack Richardson (19th), and Oliver Skene (41st) have all finished in the top third in a highly competitive field.

Hosted by the Canterbury Clay Target Club, College boys have also impressed at the National Club DTL Championships, with Harry 3rd in the B Grade Double Rise and Oliver – a member of the South Island Junior three-person point-score team – shooting an outstanding 74/75 in the inter-island match. Oliver, Harry, Bradley, Tyler, and Jack have all recorded top-10 finishes in their respective grades and events.

The results reflect the strength and depth of the clay target shooting programme at College.
