Stunning sounds of Sedley Wells winners
Our most exceptional College musicians and singers have filled the Assembly Hall with wonderful sounds, delivering superb performances during the Sedley Wells Competition.
Pianist Ryan Gu and vocal soloist Albie Anderson have won the senior awards while clarinettist Justin Wang and vocalist Oscar Stove have been lauded in the junior section.
Director of Music Robert Aburn says the annual event “provides a wonderful opportunity for our instrumentalists and vocalists to perform solo items in a formal setting”.
“The adjudicator considers the whole performance, communication, ability, and the performer’s skill in bringing the music to life, along with his capacity to engage an audience,” he says. “These are all critical traits in any musical performance.”
The popular competition is divided into two categories – Junior (Years 9–10) and Senior (Years 11–13) – and features a range of musical styles and instruments, along with separate categories for vocal soloists.
