Striving for Excellence in Kiwi Competitions
Four College students have achieved Excellence in the annual Years 9–10 Kiwi Competitions overseen by the University of Canterbury.
In Year 9, Nitin Keswani (English) was awarded Excellence while Tom Kerr (Maths), James Reed (Science), and Felix Liu (Maths) also excelled.
Meanwhile, the following Year 9 students achieved Merit: George Greig (English, Maths), Nitin Keswani (Maths, Science), Hwijun Kwon (English, Maths), Sean Ma (English, Science), Ahmed Mohammed (Science), Joshua Padayachee (English, Maths, Science),and Tim Zhao (Maths). In Year 10, the following students gained Merit: Alex Johnstone (English), and Lucas Zhang (Maths).
Organised by the UC Centre for Assessment and Monitoring, students are tested in English, Mathematics, and Science, with Excellence awarded to students who achieve 90% and above, and Merit acknowledging scores of 76% to 89%.
Several Year 9 boys have taken on the Kiwi Competitions challenge and achieved good results, including Hugh Carran and George Wilson, along with Ryan Tian, and Ryan Ma. In Year 10, William Coughlan and Hugh Davis have also achieved, along with Jack Gorrie and Hao Newman.
