Otto Church vaults to national record
Christ’s College athletes have achieved a national record, titles, and multiple places and personal bests (PB) at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Association Track & Field Championships in Timaru.
Otto Church has won the junior pole vault title – and set a national record – with a 3.56m vault. Harrison Laing has had an outstanding 400m competition, running an impressive 49.84sec PB in the semi-final for a 5th place ranking. He has stepped up for the Sunday final, achieving a 48.62s PB to take 3rd place.
Sam Moore has displayed his versatility, achieving a 3m PB in the junior pole vault to finish 2nd. He has also finished 3rd in the Year 9 3000m road race, quickly followed by a 6th in the junior steeplechase on the track. Dylan Jackson has lined up in the 110m hurdles final, finishing 6th.
