Otto Church leads College cross county charge
Year 11 athlete Otto Church has helped power Canterbury to the runner-up spot at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country Relay Championships on a fast and demanding course at the QEII Ascot Fields in Christchurch.
His impressive run follows his 8th in the NZ Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships, earning his place in the Junior Canterbury A team.
Meanwhile, Louis Hiatt has finished 33rd in the individual junior event over four kilometres and has run for Canterbury B (10th) in the team relay. Fellow College runner Max Hindmarsh (Canterbury C) has finished 88th – following a rugby game – in the same individual event, with 144 boys competing in total.
In the Year 9 individual event over three kilometres, George Thorp (48th), Harrison Tapper (72nd), and Sam Ensor (73rd) have lined up in a 122-strong field. In the regional team relay, George – running for Canterbury B – has placed 8th while Sam (Canterbury C) has finished 11th.
In the 6km senior boys event, Henry Hiatt has finished 54th, running in a high-quality, 168-strong field. Henry has also lined up in the senior relay for Canterbury B to finish 10th in the team event.
