Oliver Skene on the mark for international title
Clay target shooter Oliver Skene has won an international team title as a member of the New Zealand Junior Mackintosh DTL team.
The Year 11 student is the first Christ’s College representative to win a place in the national junior DTL team following his efforts at the 2024 National Clay Target Club Championships. The junior team has outscored rivals from Australia, Canada, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, and South Africa to win the Mackintosh DTL title. The last time a NZ junior team won the Mackintosh teams match was in 2009.
The Mackintosh International Teams Match dates back to 1939 for the open team event. Junior teams were introduced in 1991. The event is administered by the World DTL body, the International Clay Target Shooting Federation (ICTSF). The top four scores of the five junior team members are used to determine the final team score.
Meanwhile, Year 10 student Harry Wilson has been named in the South Island Junior Skeet Team, an impressive achievement in the U18 grade. He will compete at the New Zealand Skeet Championships in Hamilton in November.
