Oliver Skene on target for College first
Year 11 student Oliver Skene (pictured front right) is the first Christ’s College student to win a place in the national junior Mackintosh DTL team following an outstanding showing at the National Clay Target Club Championships held at the Canterbury Clay Target Cub.
Along with Oliver, fellow Year 11 student Harrison Johnstone and Year 10 student Harry Wilson have impressed at the individual championships, recording an array of superb results and finishing 1st in B Grade and C Grade sections, respectively. Year 13 student Kieran Christey has also competed strongly in the tough A Grade section.
During the intense three-day competition, Oliver has achieved a 238/250 Mackintosh score and a place in the team that shoots a 100-target postal match against Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, and South Africa. Oliver’s 291/300 score is a personal best. For the junior team, the best four scores count, with the New Zealand side scoring 1174/1200 to deliver one of the best results in recent years.
