Nurturing the right environment at Christ’s College

17 Aug 2026

Sustainability superheroes, House plant pot painters, leaf counters, the seeds of competition, an environmental quiz, and cleaning up the riverbank – welcome to Environment Week at Christ’s College.

Head of Environment Manoj Solai says “the aim has been to give students an opportunity to get more involved with the environment through a range of nature-based activities throughout the week”.

“It is a week where the boys can learn more about the importance of protecting and nurturing special spaces,” he says. “With these boys being the future guardians, it is vital to have a full week where they can develop their environmental knowledge and take part in various activities as a way to give back.”

To support the College-based Eco-Action Nursery, the boys have held several special events, including a speed planting competition and a pot plant painting contest featuring House colours.

A riverbank clean-up of the Avon has been central to the week’s activities, with boys combing through bushes and plants to clear out rubbish. They have also been encouraged to think about a better world during an environmental quiz and hot chocolate catch-up.
