Mihi whakatau for new Christ’s College students
29 Jan 2025
The next generation of Christ’s College students has been welcomed into the Assembly Hall for a traditional mihi whakatau.
The whole school has gathered to acknowledge the Year 9 boys, along with new students in other year groups, and new staff, with the kapa haka group performing a powerful haka on the stage. Following the whaikorero (formal speech) by teacher Steven Tait, College students and staff have sung the waiata, Ka Waiata.
Executive Principal Joe Eccleton has then addressed new members of the community, highlighting the significance of the year and the 175th school celebrations while acknowledging the many boys who have been integral to the College legacy since 1850.
