Living by our Virtues

04 Sep 2025

A group of 30 boys showed our College virtues in action by raising $17,000 for the NZ Cancer Society, more than three times their original target.

In just one day, they skied an extraordinary 830kms at Mt Lyford as a tribute to much-loved Old Boy Hamish Simpson who passed away from brain cancer last year.

Sons Ollie and Jono Simpson organised the challenge in memory of their dad and as a step towards helping others.

At College, we’re committed to fostering the development of character in our boys through nurturing seven core Virtues. We hold them dear and love to see the boys walking the talk. The teamwork and leadership involved in organising this fundraising initiative is a prime example of two of our virtues in practice - respect for Ollie and Jono and their dad and compassion for their loss and the challenge others are facing.

Ollie says he and Jono were blown away by the support of the school community and from the people who knew their dad.

Thank you, boys for your support – and huge thanks to our community for your generosity.
