It takes a cast – teamwork brings edge to House Plays
15 Aug 2025
Behind every great actor and show are a plethora of people who bring the production to life.
The House Plays Festival 2025 is a prime example of this teamwork in action. This was the first time in 55 years that all 10 Houses wrote their own plays.
Hannah Clarkson, College’s Director of Drama, says she was extremely impressed with the work of the student directors and writers.
“They led their teams with energy and creativity. They’ve adapted when necessary and really stepped up. We are also grateful to the student crew leaders who made all of the 10 Houses look great with the extra touch of sound and lighting. Josh Burton-Lyall and Noah Williams have wonderful skills in these areas and gave their time willingly to help everyone.”
Harper House scooped first place and the Tothill Cup for their take on popular TV programme Ted Lasso, with Daniel Wilson named Best Director for his work on the production.
Rolleston’s Logan Ainsworth won Best Actor for his performance in Infiltrated.
Hannah says adjudicators Anna Turner and Peter Rutherford were impressed by
the high standard of the plays.
“They loved seeing so many boys on stage and having a wonderful time. It’s special to see a mixture of Year 9 through to Year 13 students all working together towards a common goal, meeting the challenges together and then having the success of the performance.”
