All the world’s a stage but, in this case, particularly London for a 21-strong touring troupe of Christ’s College thespians.

From high-octane West End spectacles to classical drama, the boys have experienced a diverse, masterclass-level line-up of 14 live performances during their UK Drama Tour.

Among the standout musicals, they immersed themselves in theatrical storytelling at its finest, including the hilarious Operation Mincemeat, the epic classic Les Misérables, and the heartwarming production of Paddington.

Taking a comedic turn, The Comedy About Spies was a hit with the boys while the blockbuster stagecraft of Stranger Things: The First Shadow, and the impressive, fresh performances in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of As You Like It in Stratford-upon-Avon were all sights to behold

Treading the boards at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, the boys revelled in the thrill of specialised training at one of the world's leading conservatoires, sharpening technical skills in voice, movement, and ensemble work.

A stage combat masterclass set the scene for an intensive stage-fighting workshop, where the aspiring young actors discovered the choreography, physical safety, and dramatic tension required for physical theatre.

Meanwhile, behind-the-scenes, the College troupe toured iconic theatrical venues to understand the technical scale, stage management, and heritage of world-renowned UK performance spaces like The National Theatre and Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Historical exploration and culture, along with castles and landmarks, were also on the programme, including visits to the Imperial War Museum, the underground Churchill War Rooms, and a naval icon, HMS Belfast. And the boys took in centuries of royal and English history at Windsor Castle, Warwick Castle, and the Tower of London. Travelling through London, Oxford, and Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, they connected British literary and dramatic history to the modern stage.

Eager for iconic experiences and excursions, the touring party relished London Eye and Thames jet boat rides, along with the magic of the Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour.

Christ’s College Director of Drama Hannah Clarkson says the students “built real-world independence” while always representing the school with “outstanding confidence, self-management, and maturity as they navigated one of the largest and busiest cities”.
