Driving student safety on the roads

Wanting to take student skills up a gear, the Christ’s College Wellbeing Committee – in partnership with SADD and AA – has delivered a car maintenance workshop by the Quad.
Head of Wellbeing Will Crawford says it has been “an opportunity for senior students to develop the practical skills essential for safe and responsible driving”.
“We want more students to have hands-on experience with a range of important vehicle checks and maintenance tasks, including knowing how to change a tyre, check tyre pressure and oil levels, top up windscreen washer fluid, and understand those key safety checks that every driver should know,” he says.
“These practical skills not only help drivers deal with unexpected situations on the road but also encourage good habits that contribute to safer and more reliable motoring.
“We appreciate the support of AA staff who have shared their expertise and helped to equip young drivers with both the knowledge and confidence to better navigate our roads. It has been a great opportunity for students to learn valuable skills that they can take well beyond their time at Christ’s College.”
Will says he has also appreciated the chance to work with SADD (Students Against Dangerous Driving), a peer-to-peer youth road safety organisation that empowers young people to stay safe on the roads.
