College swimmers nab age-group medals
College student Luke Manderson has won gold and a national age group title while Rylind Wheeler has won three silver medals at the 2024 National Age Group Swimming Championships at the Hawke’s Bay Regional Aquatics Centre in Hastings.
Both have impressed in the 15 years section, with Luke winning the 50m freestyle event and Rylind claiming silver in the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke races.
Luke has also finished 5th in the 100m freestyle, 6th in the 50m butterfly, and 7th in the 50m backstroke while Rylind has taken 5th spot in the 200m individual medley.
In the 14 years freestyle section, Harry Reekie has claimed several strong results in the 50m, 100m, and 200m. Following his performances, he will now compete in Melbourne.
Meanwhile, Mun Chi Jager has finished 9th in the highly competitive 16 years 50m freestyle final.
