College moves ahead in SI schools chess
Christ’s College has topped South Island schools’ opponents to finish an impressive 5th at the National Chess Competition in Christchurch.
Held at Christchurch Boys’ High School over two days, the contest attracted 17 teams, with the College team of Jordan Yee, Bill Li, Arthur Woolhouse, and Henry Acton-Adams ending the tournament with the best results for a South Island school.
During a gruelling seven rounds, the College team secured convincing wins over Christchurch Boys’ High School, Havelock North High School, King’s College, and Macleans College to seal the top-five spot.
