College clay target shooters win NZ team spots
Christ’s College clay target shooters Harry Wilson and Oliver Skene have been named in the New Zealand Junior Postal Team following impressive results at the National Skeet Championships in Hamilton.
Both have stood out in their respective grades, with Oliver taking the top title and Harry edged out by a three-time Olympian for best overall shooter.
In the C Grade, Oliver – a Year 11 student – has won the high gun, as the best overall shooter. He has won the 100 Target Championship and the doubles, and finished 3rd in the 20 gauge.
In the B Grade, Harry has been named runner-up in the high gun. He has also finished 3rd in the 28 gauge and just missed a top-three spot in the 20 gauge. The Year 10 student has won a shoot-off to finish 3rd in the 100 Target Championship, placing behind two current Olympians. In the doubles section, he has also finished 3rd. He is also a member of the winning South Island side, overcoming the North Island opposition in the teams event.
