College athletes on fast track at nationals

Christ’s College athletes have impressed at the Athletics New Zealand Club Championships in Wellington, with Otto Church and Harrison Laing securing titles.

Representing Canterbury, Otto has won the U16 pole vault and finished 2nd in the 4x400m while Harrison has finished 1st in the U18 4x400m event and 2nd in the 4x100m. Jake Boyd has produced a remarkable array of results, finishing 2nd in the U16 shot put, javelin, and 4x400m, and 3rd in the discus. Tomas Coberger and Felix Bowden have also featured among the best athletes in the U18 events.

Meanwhile, Old Boy AJ Madondo – coached by Matt Thatcher – has won the U20 triple jump with a leap of 14.28m. AJ has also finished 2nd in the U20 100m in a personal-best 10.63sec and 2nd in the 200m in 21.67sec.
