Christ’s College trio wins SI Colgate Games laurels

College athletes have dominated track and field events in the Grade 14 age group at the South Island Colgate Games in Christchurch.
Jake Boyd, Max Hurring, and Sam Moore have been in outstanding form for the highly competitive event at Ngā Puna Wai, with Jake being awarded the Nick Willis Scholarship for best all-around performance and sportsmanship.
Jake has won the shot put, discus, and 100m hurdles while Sam has claimed the 1500m, 800m, and medley relay title, along with finishing 2nd in the high jump and 3rd in the 400m. Max has won the 4x100m team relay and finished 3rd in the 100m hurdles.
In December, Sam, Otto Church, and Harrison Laing all featured at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Association Track & Field Championships in Timaru, with Otto setting a national record in the junior pole vault.
