Christ’s College pads up for Trans-Tasman Cricket Festival

Celebrating 25 years of play, Christ’s College has hosted the Trans-Tasman Cricket Festival at its home ground in Hagley Park.

The tournament features Christ’s College and King’s College and two Australian 1st XI teams representing Canberra Grammar School and Shore School, Sydney. Playing four games over five days, College has drawn a close two-day match against Canberra and lost to Shore. In the T20 format, College has beaten Shore and lost to King’s College.

College captain Flynn Holdem has been in fine batting form while Fynn Harrington, James Hunter, Jackson Grace, Archie Huston, and Alf Markham have all posted significant innings. Jackson, Archie, and Alessio Viettone-Smithson have also impressed with the ball. At the Festival Dinner, former Black Caps fast bowler Shane Bond and recent Old Boys Nick Gibb, Nick Lidstone, and Fletcher Anderson have shared their experiences of stepping up from school sport to the senior ranks.

For several College players, the festival has delivered their first taste of senior school cricket, with all the boys relishing the challenge and the opportunity.
