Christ’s College clay target shooters Jack Richardson and Harry Wilson have taken the single rise and skeet titles, respectively, at the 2025 South Island Secondary Schools Championships at the Southland Clay Target Club.

Competing in windy, wet, and freezing conditions, along with battling poor light, the 10-person College squad stepped up to the challenge.

In the skeet event, Harry was named High Overall Champion (HOA) with a perfect final score and combined with Oliver Skene for success in the team section.

In the single rise, Jack was named HOA following the shoot-off and also awarded the Kilwell Trophy. In the points score, Angus Maxwell finished 3rd in the open (senior) section. He also had the highest junior score but was eligible for the top prize only. Tyler Christey and Bradley Roycroft also impressed in the junior points score. Jack, Bradley, Angus, Connor Fleck, Alex Harrison, and Sam Davis all recorded personal bests while Alex and Harrison Johnstone finished in the top 10 in the Kidwell Trophy contest.

Harry continued his run of form at the 2025 Nightcaps Intercollegiate Competition, again winning the Skeet HOA. In the single rise, Harrison finished 1st in the senior section while Angus was 1st in the junior competition. Jack, Harrison, Harry, Angus, and Alex combined to lift the Scotts Shield. In the single barrel, Harry and Tyler finished 1st in the senior and junior sections, respectively.
